The militant labor center Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) today expresses condemnation over the killing of Andrew Iñoza, union leader of Alaska Corporation and President of Partido Manggagawa in the 1st district of Laguna.
According to KMU, Iñoza is the 73rd victim of political killings in the labor sector, "Lubhang nakakagalit ang ginagawang pagpaslang sa mga manggagawa." (The continued killings of workers deserve utmost condemnation)
According to reports, the victim was aboard his motorcycle on his way to work from his home in Barangay Landayan when he was ambushed at 7:45 am today by unknown gunmen in Barangay Poblacion. Iñoza died on the spot.
(This recent murder proves that workers are treated as prime targets. Victims includes not only members or affiliates of KMU but any workers who is struggling for just wages, jobs and union rights are included in their order of battle.)
Labog said that they can only blame the military and the 'death squads' that haunts those who strive for change in the society for the killing.
Just recently, foreign businessmen under Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce (JFC) have expressed alarm over the unhampered political killings in the country.
KMU also said that the recent international protest day condemning political killings in the country and calling for justice for the victims have gained widespread support.
