Message of Gratitude from Kilusang Mayo Uno

Militant greetings of solidarity!

The Kilusang Mayo Uno expresses its deepest gratitude to all those who have participated in the International Day of Action against trade union repression and political killings in the Philippines. Once again, we have shown to the Philippine government, represented by US puppet Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, that the Filipino workers and the people have the support and solidarity of the international community in their struggle against rampant trade union and human rights violations, in their struggle for a life with dignity, in their struggle for genuine democracy and sovereignty.

Various organizations from 11 countries have participated in yesterday's Day of Action by conducting protest actions in front of the Philippine Embassy, Consulate and other venues, sent protest letters to the Philippine government and concerned agencies, and conducted other actions. These are invaluable contributions to our struggle and are a testament of the united strength of the workers. Millions of workers worldwide have registered their voice in condemning the madness of killings and the perpetration of other trade union and human rights violations against the Filipino people.

A detailed summary of the actions will be circulated in a few days time, after we have gathered all the reports. We would appreciate if you can supply us a report and photos of your actions. Some of our friends already did and we ask others to do the same. We will be posting your actions in the KMU website.

Once again, thank you so much for your deep support and solidarity to the struggle of the Filipino workers and people.

In solidarity,
Elmer Labog
