May 1 protests to bolster anew Oust GMA movement

"We may be suffering from hunger, meager wages, and oppression, but our march to Malacanang will push through on May 1.”

This was the statement of Elmer ‘Ka Bong’ Labog, KMU Chairperson regarding their plan this coming Labor Day.

Labog said the demand for wage increase, the rising cost of rice, food and oil, and the continued violence against workers and the people are national issues that demand the attention of Malacanang, so they will assert to hold a program at the Mendiola bridge near the palace.  read full article »

Kinundena ng Kilusang Mayo Uno ang anunsyo ng gobyerno na walang matatanggap na dagdag na sahod ang mga manggagawa bago mag-Mayo Uno.


“Inaasahan na namin ito. Palabas lang naman ang pangangandarapa kuno ni Gloria Arroyo na udyokin ang regional wage boards na magtaas ng sahod dahil hindi na niya maitatwa ang matinding krisis na idinulot niya sa mamamayan,” ani Prestoline Suyat, tagapagsalita ng KMU.

Labor group hits Arroyo government for refusing to give substantial wage increase before May 1

Insensitivity to workers' plight


Labor group Kilusang Mayo Uno today denounced recent government announcement that no wage hike will be given to workers before May First.


“This is already expected. Actually, President Gloria Arroyo is just staging a show in asking the regional wage boards to increase wages because she cannot dismiss anymore the crisis she has brought to the people,” said Prestoline Suyat, KMU spokesperson.

Workers call solons to immediately pass P125 bill

People in a “red alert” situation amidst price hikes

Workers led by the Kilusang Mayo Uno picketed the House of Representatives today to “alarm” legislators on the urgent need to pass the P125 across the board wage hike bill.

They signaled the House on the need to address the “red alert” situation of the workers and the people by continuously striking a big bell at the Congress grounds, and distributing red roses to the solons with the message “Sa aming mga mambabatas, kagayat na isabatas ang 125 across the board increase.
